Women’s History Month: The Fight for Representation and Equality in Oklahoma

March is Women’s History Month, a time to celebrate the achievements of women and reflect on the work left to do. With International Women’s Day upon us, it’s important to take stock of where women stand in Oklahoma and why representation matters now more than ever.

The Reality for Women in Oklahoma

Women make up half of our state’s population, yet we are vastly underrepresented in the halls of power. Women in the Oklahoma House of Representatives hold fewer than 20% of the seats. In the Oklahoma Senate, that number is less than 25%.

At the same time, women are leading in education and workforce development. Last year, 61% of all degrees and certificates from public higher education institutions in Oklahoma were awarded to women. But despite this progress, working women in our state still face deep inequities:

✅ Working women in Oklahoma earn just 83 cents for every dollar earned by working men.

✅ Women experience poverty at higher rates than men.

✅ At our current rate, Oklahoma women won’t see equal pay until 2076.

This is unacceptable.

Why Representation Matters

For too long, policy decisions affecting women have been made without enough women in the room. Representation is about more than just numbers—it’s about ensuring that women’s voices, experiences, and expertise are at the table when decisions are made.

I have been fighting for equality and advocating for women’s issues my entire life. I helped organize the Tulsa Women's March. I've been endorsed by Planned Parenthood. I've stood up for women who've been sexually harrassed and discriminated against in the workplace. And I will continue that fight in the Oklahoma Legislature.

If elected, I will work to:

✔️ Close the pay gap and push for fair wages.

✔️ Combat sexual harassment in the workplace.

✔️ Support policies that uplift women and families.

✔️ Ensure that women’s healthcare decisions are protected.

✔️ Increase opportunities for women in leadership and business.

Let’s Change the Narrative—Together

We cannot wait until 2076 for change. The time to act is NOW. I am the most qualified and experienced person in this race. I have the tenacity and work ethic to get real results. And we will fight for the citizens of House District 71— for all of us — TOGETHER.
